Hi! My name is, Brigid Lally, Operations Manager, at LA Fitness, 1345 E. Trindle Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
I would first like to speak with you personally as a woman who has been physically hurting for 11 years, primarily due to a serious ankle injury. Secondly, I will explain that LA Fitness was the answer to my prayers! LA Fitness has given me excellent support as I exercise to regain my sense of physical normalcy.
My goal also includes the other components of my SPEM Health, because being severely physically out-of-shape takes away from the rest of my overall SPEM health. Am I 100% healed yet? Not quite, but, I am closer to being completely healed than ever in my life! This is a very important time for me. I pray for total wellness to come back to my body. LA Fitness is truly helping me get there!
One thing about LA Fitness is that you can find most any type of exercise here that anyone could ever need. Plus, it's affordable for most household incomes. We offer Free Weights, Machine Weights, Racquetball, a Basketball Court, an indoor Swimming Pool, a Whirlpool, a Sauna, and Group classes that are included with memberships! Whether you are a newcomer or a seasoned exerciser, working out at LA Fitness on your own, and/or, with Fitness Instructors, will help you reach a better overall SPEM health.
Before my ankle injury and before I started my employment with LA Fitness, I was competitive throughout high school and college. My routine consisted of lap swimming, free weights, dance, and the rowing machine. Plus, I grew up with (4) active brothers who kept me going strong as my “bonus” fathers!
I worked multiple jobs as a brand ambassador for a home improvement company, a bridal shop, and as a server/prep cook at a restaurant to support myself while pursuing the performing arts. Yep! I acted and sang on stage for years! Plus, I did everything I could to be able to go to the gym where I felt safe, as well as, where I would not be judged.
My husband, who was my boyfriend at the time, discussed trying to save to buy a home in PA. I was foolish and took my membership for granted. I should have used the pool more often because I was diagnosed with a severe ankle injury. My left foot turned inward due to being on my feet way too many hours every day! It was horrible! As a result, it got worse and caused my feet to become unaligned. This caused terrible spasms to run up my spine when I was working or driving. I started to feel uncomfortable in my personal and professional life. I was barely 30 years old at the time and lived like a woman in her '90s.
I felt humiliated when all my tables in the restaurant where I worked were asking me if I was okay. I've been in pain for years. Plus, the pain would come out of nowhere and wake me up in the middle of the night!
When we moved into our new home in PA during the winter of 2019 I could not help much because I was foolishly working multiple shifts which ended up making me too injured to help. I was using a cane, plus, climbing up the stairs with my hands grabbing the railing to help pull myself up to go to bed. I've been hurting terribly! At that time before our move to PA, I worked two restaurant jobs and at a fabric store. I finally traded those jobs for working as a GM with LA Fitness in York, with only Thursdays off in the afternoons and evenings.
Then, one day I came home after working a double shift and accidentally fell down real hard! The pain was excruciating! I, also, started to feel sorry for myself and was crying about my situation that was worse than ever! My husband and I were thinking of having children. But, I could not see how I could carry a child in my body, much less in my arms while constantly limping with the terrible pain I had in my feet. My husband’s reaction was, "The hell with this!" And, I finally realized I needed to see a good doctor.
Fortunately, when I transitioned to (2) management titles, Fitness GM / Operations Manager at LA Fitness in York, before I transferred to Camp Hill, I was blessed by a specialist doctor who convinced me to take the conservative route rather than go to a surgeon. During my physical recovery while working out at LA Fitness with the support of the people around me, I have managed to recapture 5 years of my life with minimal progress left to go! I'm so pleased with how much better I feel! I wish I had made this effort much sooner! Live and learn, right? My big regret is letting finances and fear get the better of me and not setting the boundaries for my physical well-being. I should have started my exercise routine long ago and not put my body through so much turmoil.
